In Psalm 127:3, the Bible tells us that "Children are a gift of the Lord!" How blessed we are to be able to nurture them in their walk with the Lord! Jesus himself cherished children, and he modeled for us the importance of devoting our time and energy to their spiritual development when he stated in Matthew 19:14, "Let the children come to me ..."
After retiring from a career in public education, I am so blessed to have the opportunity to serve as the Children's Director at First Baptist Church of Dawsonville. I am excited about the year ahead as we continue our focus on building a children's program that is Christ-centered and family-focused. We have recently introduced our new children’s logo, Elevate Kids, and we want our boys and girls to understand that Jesus should be the most important part of their lives. We want to help them know that if we make Jesus the central focus in our life, then that desire will affect our actions, our decisions, our friends and our future. We want to partner with parents and grandparents so that together we can “Elevate” Jesus as we teach our children more about Christ's love and move them toward a more personal relationship with Jesus.
Sunday School is a valuable tool for laying the foundation of God's word for our children. We have a strong, well-prepared teaching team during our Sunday School hour each Sunday morning from 9:45-10:45. We look forward to sharing Bible truths with our students as they actively participate in the weekly grade-level lessons from Bible Studies for Life. During the second hour each Sunday morning throughout the year, the Elevate Kids worship time allows the children to remain upstairs and worship together during the 11:00 service using the innovative Gospel Project curriculum. We hope that your family can be a part of our Sunday activities each week. This time each week is such an important part of your child's spiritual growth and development, and we would love to have them here!
Our AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) program meets on Wednesday evenings throughout the school year beginning in September from 6:00-7:45. While focused on teaching children to hide God’s Word in their heart, each meeting gives our children an opportunity to study the Bible, memorize Bible verses, participate in council time and also enjoy wonderful fellowship during game time. Please make plans now to have your student here each Wednesday night to be a part of these special learning activities.
Our Music Ministry, also, offers opportunities for participation in our Children’s Choir which meets on Sunday afternoons during the school year. Please encourage your students to be a part of this fun-filled time of praise and musical training.
Another exciting component of our Children’s Program is our fun-filled week of Vacation Bible School held each summer during the month of June. Plans are already underway for 2016 VBS with an action-packed theme of Submerged.
We would love to have you and your family join us every week and allow us the opportunity to minister to your entire family!
