In Psalm 127:3, the Bible tells us that "Children are a gift of the Lord!" How blessed we are to be able to nurture them in their walk with the Lord! Jesus himself cherished children, and he modeled for us the importance of devoting our time and energy to their spiritual development when he stated in Matthew 19:14, " Let the children come to me ..."
After retiring from a career in public education, I am so blessed to now have the opportunity to serve as the Children's Director at First Baptist Church of Dawsonville. I am excited about the year ahead as we continue our focus on building a children's program that is Christ-centered and family-focused. It is my desire in this position to partner with parents and grandparents so that together we can strive to teach our children more about Christ's love and move them toward a more personal relationship with Jesus.
Sunday School is a valuable tool for laying the foundation of God's word for our children. We have a strong, well-prepared teaching team during our Sunday School hour each Sunday morning from 9:45-10:45. We look forward to sharing Bible truths with our students as they actively participate in the weekly grade-level lessons from Bible Studies for Life. During the second hour each Sunday morning throughout the school year, the KidsWorship time allows the children to remain upstairs and worship together during the 11:00 service using the innovative Gospel Project curriculum. We hope that your family can be a part of our Sunday activities each week. This time each week is such an important part of your child's spiritual growth and development, and we would love to have them here!
Our AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) program meets on Wednesday evenings throughout the school year beginning in September from 6:15-8:00. While focused on teaching children to hide Godís Word in their heart, each meeting gives our children an opportunity to study the Bible, memorize Bible verses, participate in council time and also enjoy wonderful fellowship during game and music time. Please make plans now to have your student here each Wednesday night to be a part of these special learning activities.
Another exciting component of our Childrenís Program is our fun-filled week of Vacation Bible School held each summer during the month of June. Plans are already underway for 2015 VBS with an action-packed theme of Journey Off the Map.
We would love to have you and your family join us every week and allow us the opportunity to minister to your entire family!
